Happy Madonna Album Release Day!!!

Today marks the release of Her Royal Madgesty's 10th studio album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, which has been followed ravenously by The Cabinet since the announcement of its release months ago. When The Cabinet was first gelling, we were all very familiar with American Life (especially Ouizer), but something tells me that Dance Floor will be getting a lot more play at our upcoming parties/BLOW!s. And besides, as Ouizer so presciently pointed out, there's a song called "Jump" on this album that juuust miiiight be referring to our big nights at The Roxy. I'm just sayin', yo.

I also love me some Madonna album release days because since I always make a big production out of going out and buying the set, I usually come back with a fun story to tell (i.e., when Music
came out, I went to the heinous blown HMV on 42nd Street and received a free cowboy hat that I later wore--with lights in it!--to Limelight). Yup, that's me! Blowing it out.

Here are some reviews the album has received in the press so far:

Rolling Stone
The New York Times
New York Daily News (woo Jim Farber!)
Time
Entertainment Weekly
Billboard

a peek into my dorkiness:

i keep listening to confessions, because yes, i'm one of the homos that got it when it was leaked, thinking "god, i cannot WAIT to move to new york and hear this in a club." because somehow hearing it in baltimore while dodging toothless trailer trash and bullets just isn't the same.

Um, I hate to point this out, but if you count it like this:

1. Madonna (7/83)
2. Like A Virgin (11/84)
3. True Blue (7/86)
4. Like A Prayer (3/89)
5. I'm Breathless (5/90)
6. Erotica (10/92)
7. Bedtime Stories (10/94)
8. Ray Of Light (3/98)
9. Music (9/00)
10. American Life (4/03)

then Confessions On A Dancefloor is technically Madonna's ELEVENTH studio album. Just a minor point, though...Happy Gremlin Day!!!

I am obsessed with this album. I am such a fag I literally set my alarm early so I would have time to download from itunes before I went to work. And don't even talk about "Sorry" - that song is an instant classic. I think this is her best and most consistent album since Ray of Light. The cabinet will definitely blowing out to this one for months to come!
